Naalu Polisum Nalla Irundha Oorum (NPNO) is the story of how a calm, serene, trouble-free village turns messy because of few immature acts of four policemen. It’s a loose adaptation of a classic English film ‘Ask a Policemen’. However, the story of the film is too flimsy to be made into a full length feature film.

Having seen the trailer of NPNO, one might expect it to be filled with delightful hilarious comedy moments with hysterical one-liners from start to finish. Contrary to one’s expectation, the film starts slow and takes its own sluggish time to settle. The laughs are certainly there but they just don’t serve enough to keep the audience rolling on the floor laughing.

Arulnithi seems to avoid the conventional route of mass action films and takes efforts in finding unique scripts like Oru Kanniyum Moonu Kalavaanigalum, Demonte Colony and now NPNO. His skill set has improved drastically with varied expressions in his bank.

Remya Nambeesan plays the female lead and her role is mostly restricted to dream sequences and a dream song. The love portion between Arulnithi and Remya is layered with more than a few dream sequences.

The supporting cast list features the likes of Singam Puli, Bagavathi Perumal, Rajkumar etc. While most don’t make a huge impact, Singam Puli scores well with his easily accessible jokes.

BR Rejin takes care of the music department while Mahesh Muthusami wields the camera. Their works are functional. There are only two songs, one duet song and the other one a montage number. The sets could have been better as most of them looked artificial.

One of the downers of NPNO is its cheesy dramatic screenplay which gives a soap opera effect. Some section of the audience may find NPNO as disjointed but having said that there could also be a fair share of takers who might grab it with open hands for some funny moments.

Verdict: Screams of Juvenility and lacks a grip!
