TAMIL MOVIE RELEASE EXPECTATION

Mani Ratnam's Kadal is releasing to much anticipation this weekend. Mani is treading the path of teenage romance - anything but candyfloss at that - with solid crew and a cast that has aroused curiosity.

Gautham Karthik debuts with Kadal. Many names, including Samantha, were considered before Radha's younger daughter Thulasi Nair was signed on. A coastal romance, Kadal is written by acclaimed bilingual writer Jeyamohan who hails from Nagercoil, a coastal region. Kadal is also touted to be the comeback of Arvind Swamy who has almost quit movies to dabble in business ventures. Arjun, Ponvannan and Telugu star Lakshmi Manchu complete the rest of the cast.

AR Rahman's music is one of the major highlights of the movie. The album, released on December 15 by Sony Music, has immediately started dominating the charts. As a teaser, the Nenjukulle song performed on MTV Unplugged released on YouTube and became viral setting a nice platform and precursor for the album's release.

Kadal's cinematography is done by Rajiv Menon and editing by Sreekar Prasad. Produced by Mani Ratnam for his Madras Talkies, Kadal is distributed by Gemini Film Circuit and Lingusamy's Thirupathi Brothers. A dubbed Telugu version is also releasing.
