Magane En Marumagane - Rs. 5.4 lakhs
Kuttrapirivu - Rs. 5.7 lakhs
Kanagavel Kaakka - Rs. 6.7 lakhs

This seems to be the most crowded area when
it comes to opening weekend collections. Seven
of the seventeen films that released over
April and May have ended up earning between
5-10 lakhs during their first three days in
Chennai. Starting with the T.P Gajendran-directed
Vivek-starrer Magane En Marumagane which sneaked
into this band with just above 5 lakhs to
the blatantly commercial Guru Sishyan which
almost went past the 10 lakh mark; the other
five films being Goripalayam (another violence-based
flick in the Madurai setting), the Telugu
remake Maanja Velu, comic caper Kola Kolaya
Mundhirika written by Crazy Mohan, Karan’s
Kanagavel Kaakka and the Prithviraj, Srikanth
bilingual Kuttrapirivu.
