The
cellular jail, a place where freedom
fighters by the thousands were sent
to years of rigorous imprisonment;
a place that tells the tale of sacrifices
that built India, of lives that
were laid at the altar of freedom.
Sirai Salai told through the eyes
of a prisoner, the price of the
freedom that we enjoy today. Convicted
for fighting for one’s motherland,
thrown into the gallows for voicing
against atrocities, beaten, bruised
and tortured, yet, they never gave
up hope. The vast expanses of the
huge prison, the dark cells and
the darker motives of the overlords
were all quite fittingly brought
out on screen. |
