That Kamal Haasan is naturally gifted with some awesome comic timing is common knowledge. Only very few actors have been able to match him well in this aspect. One who has done it extremely well on more than one occasion is Jayaram, in Thenali and Panchathanthiram. The gullible Thenali giving nightmares to Dr. Kailaasam who tries every trick in the book and out of it to get rid of him can still tickle our funny bone on any day. In Panchathanthiram too, the give and take between Kamal and Jayaram was superb, especially when Jayaram would start wailing about the ‘hole in his son’s heart’.
