Not many people are even aware that such a
film was made. It is indeed disappointing
that a film about Tamil Nadu’s revolutionary
and most inspirational poet, whose lines catalyzed
the entry of many a people into the freedom
struggle, ended up being a low key affair.
But, the film itself was an extremely good
attempt at documenting the life and times
of Subramania Bharathi. The biggest surprise
element of the movie was the performance of
Sayaji Shinde as the poet. In a role that
supposedly required excellent command over
Tamil, the non-Tamil speaking actor did a
wonderful job, convincing many that there
was no such thing as a language barrier.
