Learning the nuances of direction from Mani Ratnam himself, Priya took the plunge with Kanda Naal Mudhal in 2005, produced by Prakash Raj for his Duet Films. Kannamoochi Yenada followed in 2007. Although not roaring successes, both her movies earned her female and family fans. Her next project is announced, titled Cheri.
