DIRECTOR – WHERE ARE YOU?

Hits, offbeats, potboilers, mammoth budgeters….. you name it and 2009 had it, even horror was present in generous amounts. We would definitely like to see Kollywood replicate the variety it showed in 2009, perhaps things could get even better. But, for that to happen we need the skilled and the promising directors to be in action. Many of them are, but there are quite a few who have been tight lipped about their future plans. Here, we take a look at the hit makers and the newcomers who caught the eye in the recent past but are not yet ready with their next projects as yet. Take a look at the promising names that are currently ‘in the pavilion’ waiting for their turn. When will they break the shackles and come up with something that lives up to the promise and expectations?
Unnaipol Oruvan
Unnaipol Oruvan - Chakri Toleti
After being at the helm of one of the finest movies of last year, one expected this man to come up with something quite soon. Though it is a fact that not many people cared to give Chakri Toleti much credit for Unnaipol Oruvan, he was still the director of the movie. And, after delivering such a high impact product (even though a remake) we wanted to see more of what he can produce. Perhaps, he is not a prolific film maker, but one who believes in quality and waiting for the right opportunity to come by. Let’s hope it comes along soon.
