Class met class when these two came together. Together they made style and substance come together in a glorious blend with their first film together – Kaakha Kaakha. It was stylish, brave filmmaking of the kind seldom seen before in Tamil cinema. It was a movie that was both bold and beautiful.

Vaaranam Aayiram was their next venture together. The director revealed that the idea for this film came to him on his father’s passing. It was an emotional endeavor and intuitively he turned towards Suriya to play the two characters that were closest to his heart. Suriya responded by putting his own heart into the roles of father and son that he played and the result was there for all to see. Definitely a combo we would like to see more often.
