THE DIRECTOR SIDE OF KAMAL HASSAN

We all know Kamal as an actor, his comic sensibilities, his ability to emote deeply and his powerful voice delivery. But do we know the director side of him? 24's DoP Tirru who had worked in Kamal's earlier directorial venture Hey Ram had something to tell us regarding the director side of Kamal during a recent interview with him:

"Ulaganayagan is a powerful writer more than anything else. When I was given the script for Hey Ram, and asked to read it, I took a day's time to finish it. I felt that it was a step ahead of any of the world's finest written scripts. I immediately asked him 'who is the cameraman?" and he said it was going to be me. Though I didn't believe I would be able to pull it off, he believed in me."
