'WATCH' OUT FOR ATHREYA!

Kollywood’s audiences have always been critical about the performance of the villain. There have always been times when villains won the hearts of the people through their performances.

Thani Oruvan’s Siddharth Abimanyu, Yennai Arindhaal’s Victor, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’s Ila are some names that come to mind immediately. There have also been occasions when our favourite heroes played the villain. There have also been times when our favourite heroes played both the hero and villain roles in the same film. Ajith in Vaali, Kamal in Aalavandhan are performances that spelled EPIC to us.
 

Suriya’s countenance as the antagonist Athreya in 24 is the recent addition to this list. This is also the first time Suriya has played the antagonist. What is visually proved is the fact that Suriya has taken lots of efforts to play this role. For example the makeup he is wearing for the Athreya character if not removed carefully, would have resulted in his skin peeling off. No doubt Athreya is somebody we have to ‘watch’ out for.
