“NIVIN PAULY WILL BE A NOTORIOUS BULLY”

Gautham Ramachandran who had worked with director Mysskin will be making his directorial debut in Tamil with Nivin Pauly as the lead. This will be the remake of the Kannada film Ulidavaru Kandanthe.

The film is a crime drama thriller where Nivin will be playing a notorious bully who loves to display his power whenever he gets a chance.

About his project, Gautham updates, “I got this film because of Nivin who is a good friend of mine. Rakshith Shetty who did the Kannada original is also known to me. Nivin and I saw Ulidavaru Kandanthe and Nivin liked it. He felt that we need to retain the soul of the film with a few pertinent changes.

My script has got numerous drafts. I set up my office in June 2015. I have spent almost one year on the script. Nivin is also such a hands-on actor. He was constantly giving inputs. At no point, neither I nor my team felt bad about writing another draft. Every time, we used to get excited about the list of changes to hone the script to perfection. In fact, when Nivin was shooting for Jacobinte Swargarajyam in Dubai, he took me there and whenever he got time, we used to sit in a corner and improvise on it.

People might laugh if I say that I had reworked on a remake script so many times, but we have done extensive work on the script.

We have completed the casting. It is a two hero subject. I will be announcing the second hero next week. There are also two heroines for the two male leads. There are a couple of interesting new faces I am going to introduce and I am sure they are going to be a big asset to the industry.

Pandi Kumar is the DoP, Atul is the editor, Ajneesh who was the music director in the Kannada original will continue his work in the Tamil version too and Rembon Balraj is the art director.

We are planning to go on floors by mid June. We have finalized locations. Art work has begun. All that we have to do is go and start the process. We will be shooting in Thoothukudi, Kuttralam, Manapaud and Kolkata”.
