''IT’S OK TO CONSULT A PSYCHIATRIST WHEN YOU HAVE AN ISSUE''

Prabhu Deva’s maiden production venture as announced recently is titled Vinodhan that would be directed by Victor Jayaraj who had trained under director Vijay. He had worked with Vijay in films like Deiva Thirumagal, Thandavam and Thalaivaa. Vinodhan will have Vedhika as the lady lead with Varun as the hero.

Victor is a computer science engineer, has run a theatre group, done production for Metro Plus Theatre, conducted acting workshops for films like Kadhai Thiraikadhai Vasanam Iyakkam, Sarabham and Ra to name some, and is foraying into direction with Vinodhan.

Spelling out on how he got to make Prabhu Deva produce his first film, Victor states, “Through my film’s hero Varun’s connections, I met Prabhu Deva who liked my story and agreed to fund the project.”

Explaining about his film and its genre, Victor says, “My film is a psycho emotional romantic dark comedy. All these elements will be there in my film. Whenever issues related to mental health are being discussed in films, they have mostly been very fear-inducing. But Vinodhan will be a lighthearted take on such problems. Through my film, I would be conveying that it is absolutely ok to take the help of a Psychiatrist when you have such an issue, as it is still a stigma to visit a shrink here.  My goal through the film is to remove that thought from people’s minds”.

How did Vedhika come on board? “It was a difficult process to select a heroine for Vinodhan. There were certain criteria that I wanted the heroine of my film to satisfy and Vedhika fitted them all. She was also quite interested in the project. That’s how she came on board. It is a performance oriented film for her and I am happy that she accepted it.”

Shooting for Vinodhan would begin in mid September and Victor has begun acting workshops for his crew and Vedhika is also attending them.
