Actor Sanjay Barathi talks about his 'Massu' experiences

Sanjay Barathi, son of Santhana Barathi is no new name to Tamil cinema as he has featured in films like Naanga, Puthagam and Jannal Oram to name some. The young lad is much excited as his next film Massu directed by Venkat Prabhu featuring Suriya is all set to hit the screens tomorrow, the 29^th May.

Although not much divulgent about his role in Massu, Sanjay says, “I can’t reveal about my role right now as anyway, the film will hit the screens tomorrow and you will get to see it. But all the same, I can say I have played an important character in the film”.

Talking in detail about his association with Venkat Prabhu, Sanjay states, “I know Venkat Prabhu, Premji and Gnanavel Raja from my childhood. My dad and Gangai Amaran uncle are good friends and in fact my dad’s first film was produced by Amar uncle”.

How did he get the role in Massu? “I have been pestering Venkat Prabhu anna that he has not been calling me after Chennai-28. He had always assured that he would call me at the right time. In the meanwhile, I had also started doing other films. One day I got a call from Gnanavel Raja to come and look at agreement papers, and I realized I was on board Massu. I am also thankful to the entire crew for giving me this opportunity and Vasuki in particular as she has acted as my coordinator”.

Sanjay affirms that the best part of this project was that he got to work with his hero Suriya. “I am a huge fan of Suriya sir right from my younger days and always used to sport hair styles like his on-screen characters. He is such a dedicated artist, very friendly and is like an elder brother to me”.

Any interesting incident on the sets of Massu? “I celebrated my 25^th birthday on Massu sets. What makes it extraordinary is Venkat Prabhu, Premji and Gnanavel Raja had come to my first birthday festivities and I rang in my 25^th also with them and with my most favorite star Suriya sir. It is one of the best moments of my life. All my heartfelt thanks to Venkat Prabhu anna".
