Legendary thespian is no more

Legendary yesteryear actress Anjali Devi breathed her last earlier today in Chennai. After being admitted in a city hospital on account of a prolonged illness, the Andhra born actress passed away in the hospital at the age of 87.

Known for her epic portrayals in films such as Anarkali, where she played the lead and in Lava Kusha where she appeared in the role of Sita, Anjali Devi has been part of more than 500 films across several languages in the South. In Tamil she received accolades for her performances in films such as Annai Oru Alayam, Penn and Marmayogi to name a few.
