We had reported a few days back that Vijay's birthday would be celebrated in advance on the 8th of June in the Jain College grounds in Meenambakkam, Chennai. Goodies and charity, worth about Rs 1 crore were set to be disbursed on that day, in the form of wheelchairs, computers, tailoring machines and more. Many poor and needy from across the state were set to be the benefactors.

Now we have come to know that this function has been cancelled, for reasons unknown. Maybe the inclement weather in the city or some security concerns might have led the organizers to this decision.

Vijay's fans from all over the state were getting ready to come to the city in vans and buses, to catch a glimpse of their Ilayathalapathy and also involve themselves in this good cause. Vijay's banners and cutouts were also starting to adorn the area around the Jain College grounds when the sudden announcement of this event's cancellation has come out from Vijay Makkal Iyakkam's side.
