Ever since A.R. Murugadoss forayed into Bollywood with the Hindi remake of Ghajini, the buzz was that he would repeat the same with his superhit film Ramana. Akshay Kumar was supposed to reprise the role made famous by Captain Vijaykanth.

Now, as ARM is busy filming Akki for the Hindi version of Thuppakki, supposedly titled ‘Pistol’, there seems to be an official confirmation that Akshay will indeed be doing the Ramana remake, but it will be directed by Krish, who shot to fame in Telugu with Gamyam and Vedham, later remade in Tamil as Vaanam with Simbu and Bharath.

The film will be called ‘Gabbar’ and was coined by Sanjay Leela Bhansali who’s known to have a way with titles. He was the one who also came up with ‘Rowdy Rathore’ for Akshay’s earlier release.
