DEATH TOLL IN US CROSSES 46,000; BECOMES 1ST COUNTRY TO LEAD IN DEATH & POSITIVE CASES!
Home > News Shots > WorldAccording to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University, the death toll in the US due to coronavirus has crossed 46,000 mark. While more than 1,700 new fatalities have been reported in the past 24 hours.
Looking at the exact count of death and cases, the university's tally is 46,785 deaths and 8,42,624 cases. With this rise in number, the country continues to lead in COVID-19 cases and deaths worldwide. Among this high rise, there are nearly 76,614 people who have recovered in the US.
New York is the worst-hit state with 19,453 deaths and more than 263,754 cases, followed by New Jersey with 5,150 deaths and nearly 95,914 cases, as per University stats.
Ever since the outbreak has taken place, there are more than 2.6 million people worldwide, who have been tested positive for the coronavirus, with more than 1,83,000 people dying.
Meanwhile, CDC Director Robert Redfield has warned that a second wave of the coronavirus this winter could be even more dangerous as it overlaps with the beginning of flu season.
