Despite reiterating the necessity of toilets, many in India are left without one. Sanitation is a luxury not everyone is granted with. While most neglect the unsanitary conditions they are subjected to, a seven-year-old girl from Ambur decided to fight for her rights.
Hanifa Zaara, a class 2 student was promised by her father, Ihsanullah to have a toilet built in their house. Ihsanullah reportedly promised to build a toilet if she topped her class in LKG. However, despite her first rank, Ihsanullah did not keep up his promise.
Hanifa, accompanied by her mother went to the police and filed a complaint against her father. Upon hearing of her act, the Ambur Municipality Commissioner announced Hanifa as the brand ambassador for the Centre initiated Swachh Bharat mission. The local body reportedly has also made preparations to build a toilet at her house.
