Chennai: 17 arrested for raping 11-year-old hearing-impaired girl over

According to reports, 17 men have been reportedly arrested for raping a 11-year-old girl, who is also a hearing-impaired, in Chennai. The parents of the girl have reportedly filed a complaint with the police after the incident came to light on July 13 when the girl informed her elder sister that she was suffering from a stomach pain.


The mother, in her complaint, reportedly said the assault began on January 15 when the 66-year-old lift operator named Ravi took the class 7 student to an isolated place and raped her in the gated community complex they live in. The men videotaped the rape, threatened the girl and sometimes even gave her spiked soft drinks, the mother said in the complaint.


The girl was even allegedly gang-raped at times. The girl allegedly suffered the sexual assault for over six months by several men. Police on Monday arrested 17 men including those who were working as a plumber, security guards, and housekeeping staff in the same apartment.
