Home > News Shots > Tamil NaduWith the rise in positive cases in Tamil Nadu, a 70-year-old woman died of coronavirus on Friday. This death has taken the toll in the state so far to nine, while 77 people tested positive, pushing the state total to 911.
As per a New Indian Express report, the woman died in Tuticorin.
Earlier in the day, the Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary CS Shanmugam informed that all the 77 people who tested positive today were primary contacts and from various containment areas in the state. "The new cases have been reported in those places which have been marked as containment or quarantine areas", he said.
The government is strengthening its efforts to contain the virus, he asserted. Yesterday, Tamil Nadu reported 96 new Coronavirus cases.
As per Tamil Nadu Heath Department’s latest data, the state government has screened 2,10,538 passengers at the airports of Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, and Coimbatore. They have also isolated 1987 suspected individuals in hospitals.
