The Health Ministry on Friday said that the country reported its highest ever single-day rise in the number of coronavirus cases and deaths.
As per the recent stats, there were close to 900 new novel coronavirus cases and 37 deaths reported over the past 24 hours.
The ministry further added that this is the largest ever single-day rise in the country with number of cases and deaths. With this quick rise, India has touched 6,761 with at least 206 deaths linked to the virus.
Highlighting about state wise rise in case, Maharashtra remains to be worst affected followed by Tamil Nadu then Delhi, Rajasthan and Telangana.
Earlier in the day, Punjab became the second state, to extend the lockdown imposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi while the first was Odisha.
