Indian cricket fans will soon have another reason to be proud of; they already have the best cricket team and now it would be the world's Largest Cricket Stadium.
Yes, you heard it right! According to Sportstar report, the world's largest cricket stadium is all set to be inaugurated in India. It will spread across 63 acres with 1,10,000 seat-stadium.
The largest cricket stadium is being constructed in Ahmedabad's Motera city and will be called Sardar Patel Stadium.
The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Australia is currently the largest cricket ground in the world. It has a seating capacity of 100,024, that makes it the 10th largest stadium in the world.
Till date, the MCG has hosted the 1956 Summer Olympics, 2006 Commonwealth Games and two Cricket World Cups in the year 1992 and 2015.
This Sardar Patel Stadium has been designed by the same architect company who designed the MCG, Australian company Populous.
The new stadium in India will have a seating capacity of 1,10,000 and will have 10,000 more seats than MCG in Australia. It will also have 76 corporate boxes, four dressing rooms, three practice grounds, indoor practice pitches and much more.
The whole renovation of this new stadium will be costing over INR 700 crores. Also, the work is expected to be finalized by January, 2020.
