SRH after winning the toss elected to field first.
KKR got off to a blazing start as Narine smashed 25 runs off just 8 balls. But once he fell, the KKR innings also started to fall apart as they didn't get any sort of momentum after that. Chris Lynn batted in a very uncharacteristic manner due to the constant wickets falling at the other end. Gill, Rana, and Karthik fell soon after each other as KKR were struggling at 4/73. Lynn along with Rinku Singh put on a 51 runs partnership but were not able to accelerate towards the end as they ended up with just 159 in 20 overs. Russell who was sent too late didn't get much time in the middle and couldn't create any impact today.
SRH coming out to chase started off in a hurry with both Warner and Bairstow taking on the bowling as they have done throughout this season. They did have luck go their way with a number of dropped catches as they made KKR pay for it. The pair put up a 131 runs partnership at the top in just 12.2 overs before debutant Prithvi Raj got Warner for 67 of 38 balls. But it was too late as Bairstow continued on and finished with an unbeaten 80 of just 43 balls as they won with 5 overs to spare and hence became the 5th team in IPL to win a game with 5 or more overs to spare while chasing 150+.
SRH after letting KKR get off to a flyer pulled things back very well and in the end, was a clinical performance winning the game comfortably. KKR, on the other hand, were completely outplayed on the day. They failed to create an impact with Bat, ball and on the field. They should particularly look at improving their catching skills as it really hampered their chances today. They are on a losing streak and will have to turn things around immediately to stay alive in the tournament.
