Nitish Rana has been on the radar for a while now in the Indian Circuit. He has always been recognized as someone with immense talent and had a very good Ranji Trophy season to start with.
Nitish Rana was a key performer for Delhi in his debut season (2015-16). While he was the top scorer in the Ranji Trophy with 557 runs in 7 matches, he was also the second highest scorer for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with 218 runs and was the leading scorer for Delhi in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament with 286 runs, including 21 sixes and 23 boundaries. It is to be noted that Gautam Ghambir was leading Delhi at this time
He said that "I am lucky that Gautam (Gambhir) bhaiyya is the captain. I haven’t seen a better captain than him." attributing his success to the guidance of Gambhir.
He was with the Mumbai Indians for a while, before having his breakthrough season in 2017. Ricky Ponting identified him as one of the best talents and even went to say that he is ready to play for India. He started off brilliantly for the Mumbai Indians in 2017, posting thee half-centuries in his first six innings and became a player to watch out for.
Then KKR got him the next year, but he didn't really deliver to expectations. However, he has started off really well this year, opening the batting and getting 68 of 47 deliveries takinf KKR to a victory. Hopefully, he can continue this form and push for his selection to the Indian team, if not in the world cup, definitely post that.
