Former Indian Captain Saurav Ganguly talked for the first time after Ravi Shastri's reappointment as Head Coach of India. The Kapil-Dev led Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) extended Ravi Shastri's tenure as India's head coach till 2021 T20 World Cup. Saurav Ganguly said that the decision to retain Shastri was good and it was made keeping his track record in mind.
Ganguly appreciated Shastri for his performance and the CAC committee for retaining him. In an interview to Sportstar, Ganguly was thrown a question that should India have looked someone beyond Shastri for the head coach for which he was quoted as saying “No, I think they have done well by giving Ravi a couple of years extension and I hope he does well,”
Ganguly wished Shastri and expressed his hope that he would guide India to victory in the upcoming two T20 World Cups in 2020 and in 2021. “Hopefully now India can now go all the way in the two tournaments that are coming up (the T20 World Cups in 2020 and 2021),” Ganguly was further quoted as saying.
It has to be mentioned that earlier, the 'Dada' of Indian Cricket had expressed his interest in applying for the head coach of India position. However, he wanted to let go one more phase and will definitely throw his name for the consideration of selectors in the future.
