One of the four convicts in 2012 Delhi gang-rape case, Mukesh Singh, has moved a mercy petition to President Kovind, reported the news agency ANI.
Mukesh Singh, along with three other convicts, is to be hanged on January 22 at 7 am.
Earlier today, a five-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Justice N V Ramana rejected curative petitions filed by Mukesh Singh (32) and Vinay Sharma (26) against death penalty. “No case can be made out within the parameters indicated in the decision of this court,” the bench said.

A 23-year-old medical student was gang-raped for hours and tortured with an iron rod on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012, in a moving bus in Delhi by six men. She was travelling with a friend who was beaten up. Later, the men threw them out of the bus naked and bleeding.
After 13 days of fight for life, she died at a hospital in Singapore on December 29.
