In a heartbreaking story, parents of a 15-year-old girl going by the name Manjula who went missing during the Kodagu floods in August buried a doll with their daughter’s clothes, medals (she was a budding sportswoman), jewellery, etc, after the minor’s dead body couldn’t be retrieved.
The parents decided to give this emotional farewell after all attempts at finding their daughter’s mortal remains ended in vain. The funeral was attended by Manjula’s three other siblings, neighbours, family, friends and the deceased’s classmates.
“My only regret is I was unable to see my daughter in her final moments. I am emotionally drained. We only want to ensure the final rites are performed, so our child’s soul can now rest in peace,” Manjula’s father Somayya was quoted as telling The NewsMinute.
