Amid the rise in coronavirus cases in India, a shocking video is currently going viral where Madhya Pradesh healthcare workers and civic officials were attacked by a mob of angry locals in Indore.
The incident happened on April 1, when the healthcare workers had gone to visit the area to screen residents for signs of novel coronavirus infection.
According to a NDTV report, two women doctors got injured in the attack and had to be rescued by police. Seems like, locals from the Ranipura area allegedly attacked and abused officials during screening procedures.
In the video, two healthcare workers, who are dressed in light blue PPE (personal protective equipment) suits can be seen running from the spot while locals are captured throwing stones and sticks at them.
Till now, two confirmed cases of coronavirus have been reported from the Taat Patti Bakhal of Indore, and 54 families have been isolated due to the virus, NDTV further reported.
The overall number of COVID-19 cases in India, is nearing 2,000; of which 1,600 are active cases. Looking at it globally, the virus has infected over 9.3 lakh people and killed nearly 50,000.
