The National Register of Citizens (NRC) contains the identity of all the genuine Indians which has been taken into a serious concern for more than a decade now in India. Recently, the Centre has reportedly told the Supreme Court about the wrong entries in the final draft of NRC in Assam. In fact, the report further quoted the centre saying, “ India can't be refugee capital of the world”.
"Illegal migrants must be uprooted but this should be done after utmost care," the Centre told court according to the report by News 18. In fact, the Centre had asked for the extension of date to submit the final draft of NRC from July 31, 2019.
Meanwhile, the Indian National Congress (INC) MP Shashi Tharoor has said that “57 people in Assam have committed suicide because the National Register of Citizens (NRC) has excluded them, ironically, the majority of these people are Hindus” in Lok Sabha on July 19 (Today) according to the report by Times of India.
The Centre had reportedly asked for 20% re-verification of the final draft of the NRC, especially in districts that are close to Bangladesh and 10% in the some parts of Assam.
