Malathi was introduced
in the movie Deva.
Although she is not a trained singer, she
is gifted with a good voice and she can sing
folk and rap numbers with ease. She touches
higher octaves easily and has good voice modulation.
She started singing in stage shows by joining
Lakshman Sruthi’s troupe in the year
1990. The famous singer
Manicka
Vinyagam introduced her to music director Vidhyasagar
and she sang a song in the film, Karmegam. The
song Manmadha Rasa in Thiruda thirudi got her
a big break in Tamil movies and through the
movie Arya she got entered Telugu movies also.
The interesting thing about her is that having
done 400 – 500 stage shows, she can imitate
25 -30 voices in Tamil. So, her voice has a
bright future ahead.
