Plot

A soft and kind hearted cop who hits criminals at will but feels sad for hitting them after that. Showing mercy to people is the biggest problem of the hero. But can a police officer afford that? At one stage he gets puzzled if is right to show mercy on a suspect or to punish him. He then starts digging the suspect’s past and tries to solve his case. After a witty and fun driven Bale Bale Magadivoy, director Maruthi chooses a quintessential family action entertainer that falls in the usual sentimental and comedy template of Venkatesh.

Direction & Screenplay

Feel good stories tied with the right mix of family bonds, comedy and emotions will always be lapped by the audience no matter how repetitive it may be. But even for such films, the screenplay needs to be knitted well. There are a couple of fights that are absolutely unnecessary. There are many overbeaten emotional scenes which seemed to be force-fitted. The second half of the film works better than the first. The comedies keep coming in regular intervals which partially blinds the wafer-thin storyline. Though the screenplay is not tight enough, the director manages to withhold the audience with a couple of twists and fun moments. It has something for every type of audience.

Cast

Venkatesh has played his character with such conviction, be it his voice, body language or grace, everything compliments his performance and he looks so fit for his age. He wins a laugh every now and then, while some of his comedies work some don’t. Nayanthara who is making her Tollywood comeback after 2 years has done full justice to her character. But one feels she was a little underused and her full potential was not extracted. Actors like Posani Krishna Murali and Vennela Kishore have all been given sufficient space to perform and they also get their fair chance to score.

Technical

The camera work of Richard Prasad is impressive and he has given what the script demanded from him. Coming from the table of Ghibran, one expects a couple of humble numbers but Babu Bangaram fails to offer that. The songs come in as speed bumpers and hinders the pace of the film. Three songs could have been put away easily.

Verdict: One time watchable quintessential popcorn flick!
