Doctor
Mappillai---
Vocals: Ranjith,
Naveen
Lyrics: Lalithanand
This song is very prosaic.
There is no poetry in the
lyrics at all. Taunts the
girl for her tall expectations
in the marriage market. The
sax and string interludes
alone add color. Has a slight
Caribbean touch to it.

Athiri Puthiri---
Vocals: Rahul Nambiyar,
Janani
Lyrics: Lalithanand
A song outlining a severe clash of interests
between a boy and his girl. Janani’s
rendering, touching slightly upon Mayamalagowla
raga, has a mild Arabian flavor to it and
Rahul’s singing is all hip-hop. Again
the lyrics seem to be uncomfortably stuffed
into the beats. But fun to listen to.
Jillena Veesum---
Vocals: Haricharan &
Saindhavi.
Lyrics: Lalithanand
This is a better lyric. A soft-as-feather
romantic duet with a faint ‘reggae’
touch to it. The airy notes from the keyboards,
sax and flute complement the mood of the
song well. Silken rendering from both. The
song appears conceived on Sankarabaranam
raga with just a hint of Mohanam. Good to
listen to.
Thiru Thiru Vizhiyae---
Vocals: Karthik, Reeta.
Lyrics: Yugabharathi
A crisp, and rather, unconventionally structured
love duet which shows that ‘all is
sweetness and light’ between the lovers.
An old Telugu mettu has been woven into
cool, reggae-like rhythms! The song itself
plays hopscotch between Mohanam and Sankarabaranam
ragas, but to pleasing effect, especially
from the guitar. We could have a hit here.
TTTT
Theme Song---
Vocals: Ranjith & Saindhavi.
Lyrics: Lalithanand
Delightfully racy number. Though the Sankarabaranam
mettu itself is an oft-heard one, the tongue-twisting
‘thiru thuru’ male vocals, the
calypso-like rhythms and the other instruments
add gaiety to this song.
Verdict:
Mani Sharmaa goes for a ‘mod, mod’
avatar here. The album is fast-paced, easy
on the ears and crisp as an icicle, so to
speak. Sure to be a hit with the youth,
we suppose. Good use of the western notes
of the Sankarabaranam raga.
