‘Kadhalil
Vizhunden’ pair Nakul
and Sunayna are back together
for Kalpathi.S.Agoram’s’
Masilamani’. AGS Entertainment
(remember ‘Thiruttu
Payale’ and ‘Santosh
Subramaniam?) are producing
it and RNR. Manohar directs.
The cast also includes Delhi
Ganesh, Santhanam, Srinath
and Meera Krishnan. D.Imman
scores the music with Muthukumar,
Vijay and Viveka penning the
lyrics.

Chiku Chiku Boom Boom---
Vocals:
Keerthi Sagathia, Feji, Baby
Harini
Lyrics: Viveka
Seems to be the kind of muscle-flexing
song by the ‘pettai’ youth
with a catchy opening line and good tempo
from native drums. Is it the Blues Harp
we hear that goes’ ni sa ri maa
ri sa ni ni sa ni sa’ one minute
into the song? And we hear some shehnai
note too towards the end.
Dora Dora---
Vocals: Balram, Kalyani
Lyrics: Pa.Vijay
Again, is it the Blues Harp we hear in
the beginning when the male voice goes’
pookkalin desama? ’This is a pleasant
melody on the Karaharapriya scale with
the smaller ‘dha’ swara chipping
in. Plenty of soft twinkling notes from
the strings that add sweetness to the
song - we seem to hear violins, mandolin,
dilruba and others. The song grows on
you for its nice overall feel.
Nacka Romba Nacka---
Vocals: Benny Dayal,
Rita
Lyrics: Na.Muthukumar
A very cool number, sure to climb the
charts. The opening notes in Kapi raga
that repeat often ’sa sa ni ni dha
dha pa, ga ma ni pa ga ri sa’ set
the rhythm for this song rendered with
gusto by Benny. Sunny beats, good use
of strings (is that the electric mandolin
that plays the descending notes?) lighthearted
lyrics, and added ‘dog barks’
all add zing to this song.
O Divya O Divya---
Vocals: Shaan
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay
A big sabaash to Shaan for his lovely
articulation and his ‘sangati-laden’
singing. What is interesting about this
number is that the interludes seem to
be in Mohanam raga and Shaan touches upon
Hamsadwani when he sings. The notes from
the guitars, sax and keyboard have been
suitably subdued to give importance to
Shaan’s voice. Good!
Odi Odi Vilayada---
Vocals: Mukesh, Suvi,
Emcee Jesz
Lyrics: Na. Muthukumar
Another stylish number from Imman with
loud, generous native rhythms and the
’Kavithai Gundar’ man rapping
in Tamil, English with a bit of Malay
and Hindi! Jesz also appears on the screen
in three different get-ups! One more fun
number for the ‘Where is the party’
man Mukesh.
Verdict:
Imman has worked thoughtfully on this
album, going by the tonal richness he
has added by way of various string instruments
and percussive rhythms. The songs are
more tailored to Nakul’s personality
than to the storyline! But definite to
be appreciated!
