Mudhal Idam, produced by AVM Saravanan and MS Guhan marks their banner AVM production's 175th film. It is directed by R Kumaran. Myna fame Viddarth and Kavitha Nair play the lead roles in this film. D.Imman had proved his mettle in 'Myna'. Lets see if he does a fitting succession in 'Mudhal Idam'
Inga Vaanthey . . .
Singers: Haricharan, Surmukhi
Lyrics: Arivumathi
Mild sensuous song with apt catchy tune seems to be the successful combination formula, that Imman has followed in this track and sure it has paid him well. Haricharan's mellifluous voice is accompanied by sweet feminine vocals of Surmukhi, making it very pleasant to hear. Arivumathi's aesthetically penned lyrics are interspersed in this likable composition.
Pappara Pappara . . .
Singers: Ananthu, Aalap Raju, Priya Subramaniam
Lyrics: Kabilan
It is a medium-paced kuthu number rendered in earthy style, that promises some entertainment for the folks who love rural music.Imman delivers an interesting mix of nadhawaram and his funky style of music to the soundtrack. Ananthu and Aalap Raju render the required feel to the song, while Priya Subramaniam's throaty vocals reminds you of Chinna Ponnu from 'Theeka Theeka' song.
Thindaduren Naane . . .
Singers: Vijay Yesudas
Lyrics: Arivumathi
Vijay Yesudas with his splurgy display of varying tones, churn out this haunting number that captures different emotional shades of romance. The tender guitar riffs and flute, interludes with strong percussions and makes it a great candidate to top the charts. "Nee parka Veyil Aanen", "Naan verka pani aanay" are some of the catchy lyrics that works well in tandem with the simple orchestration.
Uyya Uyya . . .(thumbs up)
Singers: Veeramani Dasan, Thindukallu Poovitha
Lyrics: Arivumathi
'Uyya Uyya is the finicky soundtrack. Imman has utilized the urmi and thavil instruments pretty well with his signature tuneful beats which distinguishes itself from Ilyaraja's folk composition of similar songs. Veeramani dasan and Thindukallu Poovitha deliver out a notable folklore musical treat that stands out in this genre of folk techno upbeat music.
Aiythaaney . . .
Singers: D. Imman, Chinmayee
Lyrics: Yugabharathi
This melancholically conceived romantic number brings out the penetrative sweet voice of Chinmayee and equally impressive Imman. But the rhythm is what lets it down and to be precise, the song has a kinda of 80's vibe , which makes it quite forgettable. It is a lackluster situational song, which somehow lacks the touch needed to take it to the next level. May be story-like-visuals could impress the viewers to lure them, to take notice of the song.
Muthal Idam . . .
Singers: Vasudevan Senthildas, Sam Keerthan, Feji, Krithika, Ranina Reddy
Lyrics:Arivumathi
An attempted medley with various elements from typical Punjabi dance track to classical beats. Vasudevan Senthildas, Sam Keerthan, Feji, Krithika, Ranina Reddy render their enthusiastic vocals to the loud drumming beat. This is a crisp 3 minute song, which provides the theme based music for the film.
Imman has scored few impressive tracks like ' Inga Vaanthey' and 'Thindaduren Naane' much to the delight of the listeners. But the surprise element is 'Uyya Uyya' which is his folklore experimentation delivering the needful.
Verdict: Mudhal Idam - Entertaining, but could have been more inspiring!
