METAPHORICAL DISPLAY OF 'LOVE-MAKING' SCENES IN TAMIL CINEMA
Developed by : Anita; Avinash Pandian;Films reflect society and in turn society reflects films. Every scene we watch in a film either gives us something to relate, tells us our own story, touches upon fictional concepts or displays life experiences of people. But when it comes to showcasing intimate scenes there was always a taboo. Hence, directors like K Balachander, Bharathiraja, Bhagyaraj etc in their era have beautifully shown the love and the love-making scenes by using metaphors. The upcoming slides are going to take you back in time depicting the props used to display "love" and romance.
Horse's poster - We have definitely seen this scene. A couple looking into each other's eyes, the man leaning forward to hold the hands of the woman and they getting physically close to each other - cut, the camera pans to a horse. This is because horses usually portray strong masculine power along with passionate desires.
