Actor Ajith's fans had a reason to rejoice when AR Murugadoss' directorial debut Dheena, released in 2001. Apart from giving a complete image makeover for the star and telling a solid tale of a gangster seeking redemption, Dheena was the first film that gave birth to the ever-famous moniker 'Thala', a nickname that was referred to Ajith Kumar's character in the film.
