HARI DADA'S THEME IN KAALA BY SANTOSH NARAYANAN
How do you convey the dark side of ‘purity’, an obsession of Kaala’s nemesis, Hari Dada. Santosh Narayanan brilliantly executes this idea by deploying a woodwind instrument like flute to convey the villainy of the oppurtunistic politician. Usually flute is used to convey a mellowed, sombre emotion, but Santosh Narayanan uses it to convey slyness.
