The film directed by M.S.Dhoni director Neeraj Pandey is based on the 1987 Opera House heist where robbers posed as CBI officers to rob a famous jeweler off a sum of Rs. 30 Lakhs. In the movie, however, the amount robbed is stated to be 2 CRORES, which is also correct if you consider the inflation.
