RUM CAST & CREW
Production: Vijayraghavendra Cast: Hrishikesh, Mia George, Sanchita Shetty, Vivek Direction: Sai Bharath Screenplay: Sai Bharath Story: Sai Bharath Music: Anirudh Ravichander Background score: Anirudh Ravichander

Rum is an upcoming horror film directed by Sai Bharath, with VIP fame Hrishikesh and Sanchita Shetty in the lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Anirudh. Here's how it played out:

Hola Amigo

Singers: Anirudh Ravichander, Balan Kashmr
Lyricist: Madhan Karky, Balan Kashmr

The slow single which has some depth in its lyrics is pleasing to the ears. Anirudh has crooned this number . The use of his variations are somewhat less but since it is not a very long song it is quite enjoyable. Good lyrics and Anirudh's voice work like a chisel with a good sculptor. The best songs of the album are generally released as a single and this was a good move to get some expectations going for the movie and the rest of the album.

Hola senorita :

Singers: Anirudh Ravichander
Lyricist: Madhan Karky

A song that is almost the same as Hola amigo except for the tempo. The pace of the song is much faster compared to the amigo version. It is not as mesmerizing as hola amigo but is listenable for those who enjoy jazz. The lyrics remain unchanged and as for the violin (strings) used from 2minute 45 seconds, the violinist, Ananth Krrishnan's touch can be seen. It is a decent song with a better finish which picks a different tone from 2:45 .

Alladhe Siragaiye

Singer: Sid Sriram
Lyricist: Vivek

A love based number with the usual EDM beats that Anirudh has found comfort in using in most of his songs. The lyrics are good and the song is soothing to the ears. The situation being love, Anirudh naturally gets the notes and tune right again. His influence from western beats and music is clear through Alladhe Siragaiye. It has fewer lyrics compared to beats and music . An enjoyable experience for those who like pop and high intensity, fast based love numbers. Sid Sriram scores.

Pori Paththi Vizhum

Singers: Diwakar, Divine
Lyricist: Vivek, Divine

A fast song that seems to start differently but gets back to the EDM beats. Anirudh heavily banks on trance and EDM and it is quite evident in this usual average number. Not the best of the album for sure. Seems like a situation where tension is created and hence the high tempo beats. The lyrics start well and then Anirudh takes over with his Trance. Diwakar executes his parts well.

Peiyophobilia  :

Singers: STR, Anirudh Ravichander
Lyricist: Vivek

If you are scared of ghosts, you would find a connect with this song. It was also released as a single after Hola amigo . Sung by STR, his trademark mass number takes its first step into a horror film. The music is on the lines of 'Maaman waiting' from Idhu Namma Aalu . It has lyrics fantasizing ghosts and is a decent number for the masses.

Kadavulae vidai :

Singers: Sean Roldan, Pragathi
Lyricist: Vivek

Serenity is the core of this song. Even the heavy beats seem relaxing in Kadavulae vidai. The lyrics are good and the chorus which is repetitive gives relief , just like a few songs like nenjae ezhu (Mariyan) , Vellai Pookal (Ar.Rahman). Looks like the song towards the end of a problem and Anirudh has done fair justice to this song. His efforts are evident with the number of layers that this song carries. Every minute has a transition and it is one of the best in this album. Hats off to Sean Roldan and Pragathi Guruprasad who sound beautiful.

Kadavulae Vidai (reprise) :

Singers: Anirudh Ravichander
Lyricist: Vivek

Now, how many times have we seen music directors do this? They pick out the best song from the album and have another version of it with their voice! Anirudh does the same with Kadavulae Vidai. A deep song with the same lyrics as the original.

Verdict: Rum is an EDM intoxicant from Anirudh, which is addictive.
