PAAYUM PULI SONGS REVIEW

The album begins on an introspective note with a deeply philosophical number sung by the versatile Malgudi Subha. The raw electric guitars coupled with live drumming set the ambience right. Subha’s husky voice does wonders in the folksy world and she delivers another winner here. The interludes are cleverly fused with Hard Rock guitars and Indian sitar strings.

This track takes the listener to the realms of remote folk worlds interestingly woven with bass guitar and metallic guitar strings. Loosely based on Carnatic Raaga Malayamarutham, this track is a cakewalk for Imman who is adept in Carnatic fusion numbers. Watch out for the fantastic presence of bass guitar and impressive chord progression throughout.  

A peculiar mass number with occasional Telugu lyrics gives this number a fun feel. This track has a strange Arabic flavor and Jyoti Noora does a commendable job with her sultry vocals. Gripping rhythm section carries the undercurrent energy without being overdone at any point of time.

It is time for a feel good solo supported with jazzy trumpets and excellent chord progression. Armaan Malik does a fantastic job with his breezy vocals and the interludes set the mood brilliantly right. It is like a one way trip to the streets of New York while staying rock steady to the foundations of folk flavors.

The finale occurs with a fun filled peppy number and the English vocals by Shashaa Tirupati give the song an international touch. Interestingly, this track touches the sublime Carnatic Raaga Shanmukhapriya in brilliant essence and style.
