AVENGERS INFINITY WAR - TAMIL CAST & CREW
Production: Marvel Entertainment Cast: Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson Direction: Anthony Russo Screenplay: Christopher Markus Story: Christopher Markus Music: Alan Silvestri Background score: Alan Silvestri Cinematography: Trent Opaloch

Prepare your voice boxes for some serious damage - the Avengers are here. And this time, it's bigger than ever. Not just the film, but also the size of the team, and the looming hype that the number might reduce drastically has made it the biggest instalment of the franchise yet.

Avengers: Infinity War, considered to be the most ambitious crossover in history, brings together heroes in a surreal fight for the universe (as usual) with the most powerful villain of Marvel - Thanos.

With each Marvel movie, the question of just how much bigger the next movie can get becomes more important, because too much of a thing often makes it sour. Infinity War has dealt with this challenge superbly: if everyone is a superhero, no one quite is, and that removes the idea of infallibility and brings in a whole new wave of emotion that comes with vulnerability - like in Nolan's Batman trilogy.

But there's no time to mourn the fallen, the film packs up and moves on pushing you forward with a surge of adrenaline. Imagine a video game on steroids, and you come close to getting the picture.

Thanos is a mighty villain so marvellously charismatic that the writers must have feared would pull fans away from their favourite superheroes. His sidekick "children" too, are pretty darn cool.

Jam-packing these many superheroes in a film is a dizzying task - and the film has neat arcs for almost all of them, including the franchise-less Hulk. Fantastic. And they are all connected not just because they are in a film together, as the plot has profound connections in between them fitted neatly in the story.

Black Panther brought a glimmer of hope to the kind of music their films could offer, but Infinity War's music is not noteworthy, to say the least. A few parts of the plot do seem conveniently written to push it forward, but they are nothing unforgivable.

Largely being a dialogue-driven film, the Tamil version doesn't quite provide you with the impetus and native feel. However, is how aspects of information, detail or humour fail to connect with the audience because they are lost in translation.

Finally, what makes this film stand out as one of the best superheroes movies we will ever watch is how bravely it flirts with a shockingly poignant ending, with a climax that will leave resounding theatres in gasps of silence. If not for anything, watch it for the end.

Verdict: Largely being a dialogue-driven film, the Tamil version doesn't quite provide you with the impetus and native feel but you can still watch it for the grandeur and of course, for your favourite superheroes
