Women’s
Day just passed and it does seem to have
been a pretty momentous passing as there
have been quite a few developments over
the past three days that have hiked the
significance of the day. The landmark Women’s
reservation bill has just cleared its first
hurdle and in cinema, Kathryn Bigelow created
history by becoming the first woman to win
the Best Director Oscar for The Hurtlocker.
So, a couple of days later, we think it
is appropriate to acknowledge and celebrate
some of the Indian ladies who have successfully
broken into this traditional male bastion. |
