A theme so alien to the Indian audiences
that it was never envisaged as material
for a film. Yet, the makers had
the courage to go for it. There
was absolutely nothing ‘filmi’
about this film. It was a reflection
of real life, with the actors living
their roles to the fullest. Definitely
a path-breaker in terms of theme
and execution, Tamil cinema would
have been well served if this film
had managed a good show at the box
office.
