Rape victims in Tamil cinema typically are either murdered or they kill themselves. The third and probably worst scenario is that they get married off to the rapist. But none of these things happened to Saritha’s character in Netrikan. She is a victim of rape but she fights back against her powerful antagonist (played brilliantly by Rajinikanth) and wins her dignity back. Netrikan was a bravura film!
