Aadhi
The hit pair of Vijay and Trisha
was back again after two consecutive
years of hits like Ghilli and
Thirupachi. This time too action
in the form of revenge was the
main theme, woven around a family
disaster. The formula seemed perfectly
suited for a typical Vijay mass
entertainer, but Aadhi lost its
way somewhere down the line, in
spite of some good chemistry from
the lead pair and a couple of
hit songs.
Paramasivan
Ajith too had a release for Pongal
2006, Paramasivan. The film was
eagerly anticipated as it was
P. Vasu’s first after Chandramukhi.
Ajith had reportedly sported a
new hairstyle for certain jail
sequences and there was a positive
buzz around the movie before its
release. Though not fully satisfactory,
Paramasivan did manage to keep
sections of the audience happy,
mostly due to the screen presence
of Ajith and a head start on the
release front.
Saravana
K.S. Ravikumar with Silambarasan,
the expectations were certainly
going to be high - the commercial
master director with a young gun.
Jyothika was Silambarasan’s
heroine, reminding everyone of
their hit combination in Manmadhan.
Everything seemed to be in favor
of the movie, including a hit
song. But, the performance at
the box office did not quite seem
to match its pre-release potential.
