It is tough to draw a line between what is a political movie and what is not. It is also not forgotten that Pudhupettai has been formerly classified many times as a gangster movie. But, it is also one of the very few movies that have shown how goons might be forcing themselves into the political arena. First, they are sought out and bought out by the politicians for their activities. But, it is not long before the goons cannot be controlled by their masters, they become ambitious and having the power of the sickle and the gun, they threaten themselves into the reckoning. Of course, it does not always work as shown in the movie. But, there are times when it does and the Indian political scene is full of such examples.
