Some might not agree with this being called a political movie. Yes, that angle of thought cannot be contradicted. This is undeniably a commercial movie with a lecherous villain, a hero and revenge being the moving force of the script. But, the movie can perhaps boast of one of the most effective character sketches (caricature) of a corrupt politician. Sathyaraj played to perfection, every bad virtue that can be brought out in a 2-3 hour movie. It also charted the growth of an unknown man into the echelons of power and the routes he had to take and the people he had to step on. Manivannan came up with a delightful portrayal of a politician who had not quite learnt all the tricks of the trade. The movie is remembered for its heavily sarcastic comedy.
