Rajendran, the dark, bald and menacing
‘owner’ and overlord
of the group of beggars in Naan
Kadavul. He came across as a man
without a heart who would stretch
every conceivable limit of cruelty
to drive a person into the most
pitiable state possible for a few
extra pennies. He talked of beggars
as assets and was ready to sell
them for cash, dispose them when
found useless and mutilate them
when found troublesome. The sheer
power of the performance made the
audience cringe in their seats when
he appeared on screen. For a moment,
everyone started hating the person
who was playing out such a character
and that is where he scored the
most. |
