Shankar’s dream project had been on our minds for nearly a decade and when we heard that it was finally getting underway with the Superstar in the lead it was indeed great news. Robot was the title that we had been hearing for all those years and that is how the project kicked off too, but with the Tamil Nadu government announcing tax sops for every film titled in Tamil, the original producers of Endhiran (Ayngaran) decided that a title change was necessary keeping in mind that a Ra 100 crore project needed to save every penny that it could. And so came Endhiran, named after one of the late writer Sujatha’s works.
